Frequently Asked Questions

You ask, we answer

Like many of our other spa customers, chances are you have questions. To help you learn more about our products and the benefits they can provide, we've listed some of our most frequently asked questions below and provided you with the answers. If the information you are looking for is not listed below, please feel free to contact your local dealer for more information. One of our home and backyard experts will be happy to assist you.

For many spa owners, regular service and maintenance by a professional is worthwhile. Regular maintenance can ensure that your spa's water is always safe, pleasant and ready for use. A professional can also use this time to inspect your spa, looking for any problems or potential problem areas that could lead to damage, water imbalance or costly repairs, and remedy the situation before it grows into a larger problem.

How often you should change your spa's water depends greatly on how often the spa is used, the quality of the water it is filled with and how well it is maintained. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend draining, cleaning and refilling the spa every three to four months for optimal performance.

How often and how you clean your spa depends on two factors: how often the spa is used and the manufacturer.

  • Test your spa's water once or twice a week using the Sundance test strips.
  • Treat your spa water accordingly based on the readings from the test strips.
  • Clean the filter every two weeks with clean water.
  • Drain, clean and refill the spa once every three to four months.

The size of your spa should reflect the use you intend to make of it. Will it meet the needs of the entire family? Is it intended only for you and your partner? Or do you enjoy elaborate garden parties? Based on your lifestyle and the layout of your backyard, you can decide whether to opt for a smaller or larger spa.

Most spa brands have models available in the following sizes and capacities: 2-3 seats, 4-5 seats, 5-6 seats, 6 or more seats. To get a better idea of how big or small our spas are, visit your local Sundance® Spas dealer in person today.

How long you stay in a spa depends on several factors, including your age, health, climate, water temperature and personal preference. A general rule of thumb is that it is best to spend 15 to 45 minutes in a spa at a temperature up to 38.5°C.

If you are using a spa for the first time, we recommend starting with shorter baths until you gradually build your tolerance, adjust to the environment or figure out what suits you best. If you have a pre-existing health problem, we recommend consulting with your doctor first to make sure you can enjoy hydrotherapy in the safest way possible.

A clean and properly functioning filter is the key to a well-functioning filtration system because it collects and removes dirt and debris, keeping the water clean and free of impurities. We recommend that you rinse out the filter every two weeks with clean water from the garden hose or faucet. You can also use this time to hose off the filter with a filter cleaner and then rinse it further.

Filter cleaning nozzles are available that can be attached to the end of a hose, allowing water to better reach the nooks and crannies of your filter. Every two months, soak the filter overnight in a bucket filled with water and a small amount of filter cleaner to remove debris. We recommend replacing your spa filter annually to ensure a fully functional filtration system.

Hydrotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses the healing properties of water. The combination of heat, buoyancy and massage helps relax muscles, soothe painful joints, improve circulation and reduce muscle tension. Hydrotherapy is used by healthcare professionals around the world and can help improve sleep patterns, reduce stress, relieve pain and aid recovery from injury, among many other health benefits.

The decision to buy a spa is a big one. After all, it is
not something you do every day. Your lifestyle can have a big
influence on the decision to buy a spa. Before you tie the knot,
ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Where in my backyard will I realize a spa?
  2. Will the spa be for my whole family, or just me?
  3. Will I have less pain, sleep better and have less stress?
  4. Will I enjoy the convenience of a hydromassage in the
    comfort of my own home?
  5. Will my family benefit from the extra family time we can spend at the spa?

If you answered yes to one or more of the questions above
, then a spa may be for you! Talk to one of our Sundance Spas experts or visit your nearest dealer to learn more about the prices, sizes and models available to you.
