As the proud owner of a hot tub, you’re likely all too familiar with the wonderful benefits that it can offer. From an improvement in your health to a stress-free lifestyle, there are so many reasons to own and enjoy a hot tub. To make the most of your hot tub, it’s important that you use it safely and in a way that benefits you. Using your hot tub safely begins with staying inside the water for the right amount of time, which we are going to dig a little deeper into in this article.
Using Your Hot Tub Safely
How long you soak in a hot tub depends on several factors, including your health, tolerance, and personal preference. As a general rule of thumb, we suggest soaking in a hot tub anywhere from 30-60 minutes.
Before soaking in your hot tub, we suggest speaking with your health care provider if you suffer from a medical health condition. This will help to ensure that soaking in a hot tub is right for you and that you soak for the right amount of time and at the best temperature for your health.
Some can soak in a hot tub for longer periods of time than others, and at different ranges in temperature. To find out which one is best for you, we suggest starting with a 10-15 minute soak and with the temperature set to 98-100°F and increasing the time and temperature gradually and in small increments.
Lastly, your personal preference can also determine how long you soak in a hot tub for. While some feel like they could soak, swim and play for an hour or more, others are perfectly content getting in and out of the water within 15-20 minutes. As you gradually increase your tolerance to the water, pay close attention to how you feel, both in and out of the water. If after soaking for 30 minutes you feel like you’ve had enough and are noticing an improvement in your health and lifestyle, that may be the perfect amount of time for you.
At the end of the day, everyone is different. While there is no magic number for how long you should soak, we do suggest that you experiment and explore in a safe and controlled way.
